Landscape photography – not the easiest to capture well but very rewarding none the less. The best part is that you can combine it with discovering new magnificent places.

On this occasion I visited Wales with its stunning Pembrokeshire coastline. I love going back there and enjoying the times with a camera in my hand.

These are my simple tips to make landscape photography easier.

1. Compose well

Try to compose your image like a painting. Balance the objects that are in your frame, play with the plans: those located close and far away from you. I recommend using a prime lens which will make you more aware of the composition – at least it’s good practice anyway.

2. Bring the sturdy tripod for landscape photography.

A sturdy tripod is a useful and a must have accessory; especially if you want to play with long exposures and still get the sharp images. This landscape photography technique is useful when you want to achieve a smooth silky-like look of the water or take photographs in low light. To do this you’ll need to get rid of all possible vibrations, so:

  • use a tripod
  • use mirror lock-up on your camera
  • get a cable shutter release
  • try to stay away from the wind and other inconveniences that make your tripod shake
